After-School CampAt Grace Christian Academy, All Around Learning Center hosts two exciting clubs: a STEM Engineering Club and a Coding Club.
In the STEM Engineering Club, students will explore a variety of fun and hands-on engineering projects. They will build skyscraper structures, experiment with electrical circuits, and discover how light can be incorporated into their designs. Students will learn how engineers use creativity, problem-solving, and trial and error to develop and improve their ideas.
Flying rockets and drones around their own city will add an exciting challenge as students explore concepts such as flight, movement, balance, and design. Through these projects, students will have the opportunity to test their ideas, make adjustments, and see how their designs perform in action.
In the Coding Club, students will learn to use Kodu Game Lab, a popular 3D game development environment originally developed as a project within Microsoft Research. Kodu is designed to introduce children to programming through a fun and creative approach using a simple visual, tile-based programming language.
Students will design their own 3D worlds, characters, and games while learning how to give their characters instructions and create game rules. They will explore programming concepts such as conditions, actions, movement, and interaction as they bring their ideas to life.
Kodu makes programming approachable for beginners while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking. Students will have fun designing games while developing valuable computer science and logical-thinking skills.
