At Valley Christian Schools, All Around Learning Center hosts two after school clubs: Robotics and Computer Game Design.
Robotics Club is a perfect opportunity for both new and returning robotics students. We will have a lot of hands on fun building and programming Lego Mindstorm robots. Students will learn to assemble and program original designs as well as guided constructions. They will have a chance to create their own vehicles, animals, and humanoids out of Lego Mindstorm kits. Students with prior robotics experience are welcome and can apply their programming skills at an even higher level. They will be able to explore how light, touch, sound, and ultrasonic sensors can enhance their robots. Students’ designs will be tested in various challenge courses. We can’t wait to see the students; innovative designs in action!
In Computer Game Design Club, students will use Kodu to learn the basics of programming and create their own original computer game that they can play at home. Kodu is an amazing program for learning computer game design. It is easy to learn, but challenging to master, which motivates students for learning more outside of the club. Kodu uses a simple visual programming language that allows students to create their imaginary world and share their designs with others. The 3-D game-making environment and visual logic will definitely impress and challenge the students.
